For those of you that are currently shopping the internet for the perfect Teryx exhaust we thought you might want to know some stats based on our dyno tuning over the past couple of weeks what we have found.
I think we all know that the Teryx engine is everything the Rhino wishes it could be. The twin found in the Teryx is arguably one of the best engines available for any UTV in terms of pure potentiality but as expected comes completely detuned from Kawasaki to a point where the stock Rhino 700 almost runs with it.
After reading countless advertisements about anywhere from 8-15hp gains from simple slip-ons we decided to throw the Teryx on our dyno to see really what it would take to make that kind of power with a simple bolt on exhaust. Part II of this little blog will be us dynoing exhausts from Two Bros, Gibson etc and then posting video and dyno sheets of our tests. This will come later for now here are some base numbers...
In stock form on our Dyno-Jet Mustang Dyno @our elevation of a whopping 4300 ft the Teryx made 25whp. This is 2 more than a stock Rhino made and obviously allows for much improvement. With the stock exhaust and an unpacked muffler we made about .5 whp more than stock, with the muffler removed we made about 1hp more than stock and then with the exhaust completely removed we made about another .5whp. Adding to our findings we took and fabricated an intake and the combination of intake and a muffler-less exhaust made 28whp. With our intake and no exaust at all we have the Teryx up to 31 bonafide, dynoproven hp!
So essentially we call claims of an additional bolt on hp of anywhere above 1 BS and are on a quest to prove it. Why? Because we are a bit tired of the industry fudging hp reports to sell product. We understand dyno differences, elevation effects etc but at the same time to claim hp #'s and then not deliver or provide proof that they were at one time delivered is quite simply not acceptible. We are not naming names here...Yet...Stay tuned...And yes an honest eval and dyno test of our products will be included in the mix of things.
